Just a little farther to the west you may wish to visit Lagos, with it’s beautiful churches and the historic home of the Portuguese Prince Henry the Navigator. Or visit Sagres, the most south westerly point of Europe which has a museum, fortress and a lighthouse. This is a journey through Portuguese history.

To the north lies Silves, once the Capital and commercial fishing port of the Algarve with its historic castle and museum. Then onto the small spa town of Monchique, resting in a scenic mountain range of the same name. In the local shops you can discover the culture and handicrafts of the region. For the more adventurous the surrounding hills offer the opportunity of sightseeing, horse riding and walking the many trails.
